Restored to perfection: a mid-century modern jewel by Keck & Keck. A collaboration between HomeCrafters Design, JR Interiors and Scott Byron & Co Landscape Design ensured that the residence was brought back to its original 1959 glory with thoughtful attention to detail and architectural reverence while addressing the needs of a 21st century family with new luxury appointments and today's energy efficiency features. Keck trademarks - passive solar, indirect lighting, fixed expansive thermopane windows with separate operable screened louver vents - celebrate the celebrated firm's focus on an inside-out approach to efficient design that remains timeless to this day. In keeping with the cutting edge design of the Keck brothers, this newly fashioned smart home also boasts all new wiring, plumbing, solar panels and is wired for an electric car charger in the 3-car attached garage. The interiors, as imagined by Julie Rearick of JR interiors Inc., serve as an ode to the original home, unifying both old and new details. New flooring throughout, from quarter sawn oak to ceramic tile, black slate and marble, give the home a bespoke quality. Large picture windows frame garden views from many rooms. The main level opens with a foyer, followed by a scene-stealing living room anchored by a fireplace and a period chrome and glass spiral staircase leading to the lower level. The light-filled dining room offers an easy sense of flow from the living room while still remaining separate. The centerpiece of the home, the family room, is destined to be the site of gatherings both large and small thanks to a wet bar and sliding doors to the private and intimate backyard garden as conceived by Scott Byron & Co Landscape. Off the family room, the all-new kitchen has been sleekly configured with Rose custom cabinets, Quartz countertops, as well as Wolf, Sub-Zero and Electrolux appliances. An expansive deck off of the kitchen provides connection between the indoors and out for seamless entertaining. Four bedrooms on the main level include a generous primary suite with a hotel-worthy bath designed around a stunning bath/shower configuration, dual sinks, multiple closets and storage spaces. Another bedroom, off the foyer, comes with its own bath and could double as a home office or in-law suite. The sunlit lower level further impresses with a sweeping recreation and entertaining space, complete with a wet bar, half bath and walkout access. Other lower level rooms include a guest bedroom with walk-in closet and bath, a laundry room and flex space. The light and airy home is ideally perched on a corner lot, offering privacy and abundant natural light throughout the day. A rare piece of mid-century modern history right in the heart of Hinsdale.
